Technique #9 ~
Mayco Specialty Technique
You will need an appropriate cone 04 bisque
vase and the following Mayco products:
SG302 Snowfall - Specialty
Glaze EL123 Patina - Elements Glaze Other: Piece of lace Soft fan
brush |
 Mayco Specialty Technique #9 |
Begin with properly fired cone 04 bisque. Wipe bisque
with a moist sponge to remove any dust and moisten the bisque. Pull the lace
around the vase, holding tightly against the vase. Use a dry sponge or brush,
loaded with Snowfall, and drag into the lace. Repeat over the lace several
times, building up a layer of Snowfall in the lace design. Continue around
vase.
Remove the lace before the Snowfall dries. Allow the Snowfall to
dry.
Using the soft fan brush, apply 3 even coats of Patina over the
entire vase. Glaze the inside of the vase with the same glaze. Stilt and fire
to cone 06.

Note: The two vases above were done using the same technique and
different Elements colors. They were fired to cone 04 - by mistake!
Note: Never stay up until 4:30 am, then get up at 8:30 to fire!
Always check that you've got the proper cone in your hand before putting it
in your kiln sitter. This could have been a real disaster. And - yes, even old
timers make mistakes.
