Merry Christmas!

This year Creative Glazes will be closed from December 19th through January 3rd. Our last day here will be December 18th. We will reopen on January 4, 2010. The last day to place your orders and have them shipped before the holiday is December 17th before 12:00 pm EST. Please note that orders shipped this late may not get to their destination before Christmas.

No new orders will be filled while we are closed. However, you can place your orders during that time and they will be filled in January when we return from our Holiday break.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank each of you for your support in the past year. We hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Wonderful, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

Insider Tips - - More Creative Ideas for Old Molds

I bought a cute mold for a 'blowfish' or 'bubblefish'. When kids make it during 'Ceramics Camp' I cut out four holes in the top and they make toothbrush holders for their lavatory vanity areas. They personalize by doing them in their favorite colors and writing their names or iditials, peace symbols, etc. on them. You can always cut slits in the shape of scales on each side and install a nightlight by cutting a hole in the bottom or one side.

This same idea can be used on another mold I have: a Mexican Piggy Bank. Cut out holes in a flower or other design and either use as a nightlight or tealight (outside use only).

I also pour an ice cream cone windchime mold and make the individual comes as "balloon weights' for helium party balloons. Then each child can take home a balloon and the ice cream cone as a favor at the end of the party.. Another windchime mold that could be used the same way would be a sand-dollar windchime mold I got from Tampa Bay several years ago. Or insert a heat-resistant wire into each sand dollar and use them to decorate summer wreaths, etc. Several of the fresh clay sand dollars could be assembled together on a round base or tile greenware piece to create a beautiful pillar candle holder; and the nice thing about bisque sand dollars is they don't have to be clazed or anything!! One firing and a beautiful gift.
