"Sometimes when i throw mugs or bowls, I do
not cut them off the bat. I find that the cutting wire makes a mark on the
bottom of the pot no matter how close it gets to the bat. Instead I use the
ultimate edger that rounds off the bottom of your pot and makes a beautiful
foot. after a day or two, the pot comes off by itself, the bottom is completely
perfect, ready for your stamp, or initials."

"This is a good idea for contemporary's
shops, or any studio one is running. We just got new pretty tables and wanted
to protect them. We went to the dollar store and bought plastic shower
curtains, about 10 and brought them back to the shop. We run a children's class
on Saturdays and covered the tables. I also use spare computer paper as place
mats. So like to take notes, some like to practice drawing, and the budding
little artist like to create wonderful colors. When the session was done and
the budding artists left, you should have see the tables. We threw the place
mats out and wiped the tables, with the shower curtains on, and were ready for
the next group in 15 minutes. We not only saved time, we saved our brand new
tables. The next day, I went to the dollar store and bought all the clear
plastic shower curtains I could. They also are good for the pouring room, and
the cleaning room. The colored ones we use for the display tables. Just a
suggestion, love the time savers. Have a good one."

Mayco has announced that as of January 1st, 2009 their complete
line of leaded glazes will be phased out or replaced. This includes Exotics,
JungleGems, Clear and Clear Art glazes, Utopia glazes, Bisque glazes and Art
glazes. Mayco says that many of the glazes have been reformulated and have
either already been replaced or will be released as new food safe glazes. The
list is extensive so you should be able to find something similar to your
favorites, but some of the glazes will not be replaced.
If there is a
special glaze you love, now is the time to stock up - while the colors are
still available. Our Mayco discontinuation page linking old colors to new
should be up soon. Check under the Mayco directory early in November.
This month's gorgeous glaze you should know about
is - EL116 Blue Stone.
This is one of our favorite Elements glazes and, as with all Elements, it
never comes out looking the same way twice! Bright, blue and striking with dark
overtones that settle into the detail, this shiny glaze is as beautiful on a
smooth object as it is on a highly detailed piece. Even better - this month it
is on sale!
Visit our sale page to see all the items on sale this month. Be sure to check out the special sale
on 8oz Concepts Underglaze for Bisque!
