Simple Ceramic Ideas

1. A Gorgeous glaze you should know about - Translucent IN1029 Tweed, adds interest to detail painted items.
This teapot was hand painted with Concepts underglaze for bisque, then glazed with IN1029 Tweed. The flecks of black and brown in the clear glaze add more interest to the finished teapot - spicing up the total look.

2. Klay Gun ideas - If you love the open look of extruder clay puzzling, but don't want to purchase an expensive extruder until you try making something first, we have an idea for you! Why not try the Kemper Klay Gun on a small project? Choose the shape hole you prefer (the gun comes with 19 to choose from!) and use it to make a rope of clay. Press the rope into the open half of your chosen mold swirling and turning the rope for a more interesting look. Repeat with more ropes, building up coverage, but be sure to leave lots of open areas, too.
When the first half of the mold is filled to your liking, do the same with the second half, adding a few loose pieces that will tie the two halves together. Carefully put the two halves of your mold together and use your hand (or a tool) to press the loose pieces from one half of the mold to the other. When the clay is firm enough, take it out of the molds and allow to dry thoroughly. You can make the piece as open and airy as you wish, but remember that if you plan on glazing the piece you will have to be able to stilt it somehow, so plan accordingly.

3. Cobblestone glazes - Available in black and white, the white can be painted over with underglaze if desired so your final product will have color and highlight. These interesting glazes can also be applied in thin lines, squiggles or patterns over a base of colored glaze. When fired the Cobblestones break into interesting patterns, allowing the colored glaze to be seen between breaks. The cool squiggled lines shown below are made using Cobblestones applied with a Medium or Large Writer Tip squeeze bottle. After firing these lines become broken and more interesting.
