Layering glazes always adds an interesting perspective to nearly
any design. Previous insider tips have discussed layering glazes and we decided
to discuss it again for our newer readers, and to remind our seasoned readers
of this great effect. There are so many possible variations on this tip, that
this effect never appears dated and can be spectacular. The vase pictured above
was just made by painting the bottom 2/3 with Mayco's
S2727 Poppy Fields Crystalite
glaze. Then, the top 1/3 and the inside were painted with S2172 Bright Orange.
Then, SG202 White Cobblestone was
applied over the Bright Orange. As you can see, the results of this simple
method are outstanding. Be sure to try this for yourself, with your own
favorite colors.
We now carry Mardi
Gras Lustre overglaze. The 1/2oz bottle is just $4.50 and fires to cone 019
022, and can applied to any fired overglaze compatible glaze.
Many customers have requested this great product in the past few
months, so we are now carrying it for your convenience. None of the Creative
Glazes staff has tried this glaze yet, but it has been described as bright,
vibrant and adds brilliance to the already excellent Duncan, Mayco, and Gare
glazes that we carry. Some have said it is similar to Mother of Pearl, but with
a great deal more intensity. We hope you will try it and see how it makes your
designs really pop with excitement.
