Mix equal parts CY110 Iron Ore and CY103 Desert Pine together
for a really great color. There are speckles and depth and the color is
beautiful!

Creative Glazes is pleased to announce that we now carry
APT-II Ceramic
Enhancer!
APT-II is a miraculous product with many varied ceramic
uses. We have been amazed repeatedly by the number of things this revolutionary
product does. Over the coming months The Ceramics Insider will try to describe
some of the various uses.
Here are a couple tidbits to hopefully tide
you over this month. Let's say you have a piece that has been fired and you
wish you could change the color or add a crystal glaze over the original glaze.
As we all know it is nearly impossible to glaze over a fired glaze because the
new glaze simply will not adhere to the glass-smooth finish. But, with APT-II
you can do this!
To reglaze a previously fired piece, add 3 - 4 drops
of APT-II Ceramic Enhancer per ounce of the new glaze you want to use and stir
it in well. For a good coverage, apply approximately 2 coats of your new APT-II
enhanced glaze over your original glaze and fire to the recommended firing
cone. Now your "new" piece will have a new color or crystal glaze over your old
color.
APT-II allows you to do another artistic effect along similar
lines. Mix the APT-II into your new glaze and paint it on like we said above.
But before firing, use a sgraffito tool to scribe a design in the new glaze.
When you fire the piece now, you will be able to see the original glaze shining
through the new glaze in your design. With effects like this, APT-II allows you
to "go to the next level" with your designs!
Once again we want to remind you, or alert you, to this
fact: Applying a Non-Toxic clear glaze over a leaded glaze will NOT make
the ceramic piece food safe. Simply stated - when glaze is fired in the
kiln it becomes slightly liquid. The non-toxic glaze and the leaded glaze will
melt into each other, making the entire piece dangerous to eat or drink from.
Leaded glazes should NOT be used for dishes, plates, bowls, cups, etc.
