For extra interest, create a design using E-Z Strokes on your
cleaned piece of greenware. When design is complete, apply slightly diluted
vinegar solution over the greenware. Vinegar can be applied with a sponge,
scrubby or brush.
The vinegar reacts with the greenware causing it to
bubble and create a slightly textured finish. The greenware will not react
where the EZ Stroke has been applied. This technique gives a textured
background for added visual interest, which contrasts with the smooth area of
EZ Strokes.
When all paint and vinegar have dried the piece can be
antiqued with watered down EZ Strokes to highlight the texture, or left as is.
Fire to cone 04. Apply a clear glaze and fire to cone 06. Or, apply a
transparent crackle glaze and fire.
Creative Glazes has added Gare's White
Bead glaze to our diverse inventory. This unusual product paints on like glaze,
then forms beads during firing. White bead is most effective when
applied to greenware, but it can also be applied to cone 04 bisque or over a
fired underglaze. Bead can be tinted with pure pigment underglazes. This
interesting product can be used to create an all over texture, and you can
finish the look by covering the glazed piece with Mother of Pearl
luster.
