Ceramics Insider Tip - More Uses for Concepts
Concepts Underglaze for Bisque can be used in many different ways. This is one product that should be on everybody's "favorites" list. To help you out, we have gathered a few ideas to get you started. A well rounded ceramicist should try all of these methods. All of these suggestions work with Concepts Underglaze:
- Paint detailed designs on bisque, shading and layering colors.
- Paint Donna Dewberry Style, double loading your brush.
- Use Concepts to paint designs on unfired white satin glaze. This is called Majolica.
- Pour Concepts on a tile and sponge onto bisque for an interesting, mottled background.
- Use a wide, flat brush to paint stripes or plaid on your bisque piece.
- Add detailed touches or strokes of contrasting color with Concepts over your Envision glazes, Stone Washed, Sandstars, or any other non-moving (non-toxic) unfired glaze for unique results.
- Drop and fill technique.
Donna Dewberry Style is system of loading your brush with more than one color to automatically shade and highlight your design as you paint.
Majolica is the process of painting on a non-moving, unfired glaze background. Although it is normally applied over a white satin glaze, it doesn't have to be. You can paint with Concepts Underglazes (or EZ Strokes Underglazes) directly over many of the latest non-moving glazes.
