The Ceramics Insider Special Edition

This Special Edition of the Ceramics Insder is being sent out to share the latest news on Duncan and Gare with our readers. Creative Glazes has some stock of the discontinued glazes and paints we normally carry. When this stock is gone we may not be able to reorder. If there is a particular glaze you need be sure to order as soon as possible.

Gare Cuts Mold Offering

Gare has announced that it is discontinuing about half of their mold offerings. For a list of discontinued molds for 2004 go to Gare.com, then click on Mold Catalog. Clicking the link at the top of the page takes you to the list of discontinued molds. These molds will be manufactured through May 28, 2004. After that time, molds will be sold until inventory is depleted. Gare will not sell any of these molds after December 17, 2004.

Duncan Discontinues Color Lines

Duncan has announced the discontinuation of several color lines. Here is a breakdown of what is being discontinued.

EZ Strokes
6 colors are being discontinued in all sizes offered.
EZ 029, 045, 046, 049, 060 and 062
In addition, 10 other colors are being discontinued in pint sizes.
EZ 006, 014, 017, 025, 031, 034, 035, 038, 043, 044, and 054
All EZ Strokes, with the exception of EZ 012, are being discontinued in gallon sizes. All EZ Strokes are being discontinued in 5 gallon and 50 gallon sizes.

CoverCoats
No changes in 2oz or pint sizes.
All CoverCoats, with the exception of CC 101, 165, and 174, are being discontinued in gallon sizes. All CoverCoats are being discontinued in 5 gallon and 50 gallon sizes.

Concepts
The 6 colors in the Wash Series are being discontinued in all sizes.
CN 001, 002, 003, 004, 005, 006.
The 12 colors in the Flannel Series are being discontinued in all sizes.
CN 611, 613, 621, 623, 631, 633, 641, 643, 651, 653, 661 and 663 .
The pint sizes of the 6 color Neon Series are being discontinued.
CN 501, 502, 503, 504, 505 and 506 .
5 colors of the gallon size of Concepts (CN 113, 142, 181, 241 and 253) will be kept in the line, the other colors that are available in gallon sizes are being discontinued. All Concepts are being discontinued in 5 gallon and 50 gallon sizes.

Red-Coat Opaque Underglazes
The 5 gallon and 50 gallon sizes for all colors are being discontinued.

Glazes Specialty Products
Discontinued:
2oz size of SY 545 Patch-A-Tatch
8oz size of SY 547 Wax Resist.
SY 555 Write & Peel
SY 556 Dipping Glaze Thickener
All Specialty Products in 5 gallon and 50 gallon sizes are being discontinued.

Stonewashed Glazes
The entire line of Stoneware Glazes are being discontinued in all sizes.

River Rock Glazes
The entire line of River Rock Glazes are being discontinued in all sizes.

Sandstars Textured Glazes
The entire line of Sandstars Textured Glazes are being discontinued in all sizes.

Satin Glazes
SN 351 Satin Clear is being kept in all sizes, except 50 gallon size.
SN 352 White is being discontinued in 5 gallon and 50 gallon sizes only.
SN 355 Orange Fizz is being discontinued in gallon and larger sizes.
All other colors and sizes of Satin Glazes are being discontinued.

Crystaltone Glazes
Pint sizes and large of all Crystaltone (2000 series) Glazes are being discontinued.

Courtyard Glazes
The entire line of Courtyard Glazes are being discontinued in all sizes.

Envision Glazes
IN1046 Harbor is being discontinued in all sizes.
Only IN1001, 1001d, 1100, 1634, 1653 and 1781 are being kept in the gallon sizes, all other colors are being discontinued in gallon sizes.
Only IN1001 and 1001d will continue to be available in 5 gallon sizes, all other colors are being discontinued in 5 gallon sizes.
All colors are being discontinued in the 50 gallon size.

Gloss Glazes
GL672, 679 and 772 are being discontinued in the gallon size.
All colors of Gloss Glazes, except GL 612 and 612d, are being discontinued in the 5 gallon sizes. All colors are being discontinued in the 50 gallon size.

Gallery Opaque Glazes
The only change is that the 5 gallon and 50 gallon sizes for all colors are being discontinued.

Antique Glazes
The only change is that the 5 gallon and 50 gallon sizes of AN313 are being discontinued.
Art Glaze
AR726 is being discontinued in pint and gallon sizes.
The only other change is that the 5 gallon and 50 gallon sizes for all colors are being discontinued.

Crackles and Crystals Glazes
The only change is that the 5 gallon and 50 gallon sizes for all colors are being discontinued.

High-Fire Glazes
The entire line of High-Fire Glazes are being discontinued in all sizes.

Sparklers
5 colors of the SG series are being discontinued.
883, 884, 885, 886 and 887

Ultra Metallics
2 colors of the UM series are being discontinued.
960 and 961

Granite Stones
10 colors of the GS seriesare being discontinued.
944, 947, 951, 952, 953, 954, 955, 956, 957 and 958

Liquid Pearls
10 colors of the PL series are being discontinued.
177, 182, 207, 208, 216, 221, 228, 230, 231, and 234

Bisq-Stain Opaque Acrylics
10 colors of the OS series are being discontinued.
554, 557, 561, 562, 566, 577, 578, 585, 587 and 588

Oil-Based Translucent Stains
12 colors of the TS series are being discontinued.
552, 553, 554, 555, 556, 557, 558, 559, 560, 563, 567 and 572

NonFired Accessories
AS 960, 975, 976, 977, 978, 979 and 980 are being discontinued, as well as the 8oz size of AS 957 and SP 402.

Duncan Discontinues Molds

Duncan has been evaluating their product lines. Slow and declining products were evaluated, and many of these products have been discontinued. In addition, Duncan is ceasing production of all molds from both Duncan and Scioto. These molds will go to Starlite Mold company and are still available for purchase through your local distributor.
