* News from Duncan
Duncan recently announced that, as a way of
saying 'thank you' to their loyal customers, there has been a reduction in the
price of the 2oz. OS Bisq-Stain Opaque Acrylic colors. Now you can purchase
every one of 100 colors for just $1.75 each! Creative Glazes will be adding the
OS Acrylics in the very near future. Watch for our
announcement!

* Ceramics Insider Tip ~ Using Stonewashed Glazes
Stonewashed
glazes are lead free and food safe. Stonewashed glazes flow little during
firing so they are great for the techniques like majolica, sponging and
glaze-butting (painting one glaze very close to another). They are
satin-smooth, embedded with colors and overglaze compatible. The one drawback
is that they can be very thick in the jar and sometimes even a bit dry. Here's
how to overcome that obstacle:
Mix 2oz of Stonewashed glaze with 2oz
clear satin then apply to your bisque. The glaze will flow on easily and the
resulting piece will be beautifully smooth.
Try this on a platter or
plate: paint on three coats of mixed ST408 and clear satin glaze. When dry, use
CN113 Dark Delft to paint on flowers, leaves, vines and curlicues. Use the side
of a square sponge brush (available from your home-improvement center) to apply
one coat of Dk Delft to the edge of the ceramic piece. Allow to dry, then fire
to cone 06.
