In our last newsletter we told you that Duncan's CoverCoats can now be used
on bisque. That information was exactly as it came from Duncan. However, some
of our most trusted experts have issued the warning that this is not a good
idea. CoverCoats are made of a combination of slip and color. When you paint
CoverCoats on greenware you are acutally adhering the color to the clay, they
merge and become one. If you paint on bisque the color may pop-off after firing
and cause your piece to be ruined.

Insider Tip ~ Drop and Fill
Here is an easy, and fun, way to fill an area
with Concepts Underglaze for Bisque. First lightly draw an outline (with a soft
pencil) of what you want to paint onto your bisque piece. Then, use a large
brush (i.e. #8 round) to SCOOP up a large dollop of paint and drop it into the
outlined area. Use the tip of the brush, held straight up and down, to gently
push the paint to the edges of your outline. If necessary scoop and drop
another blob of paint to finish filling the area. Fill all the areas you wish
with the first color, then wash your brush and move on to your next color. When
finished you will have a beautifully filled, brightly colored - dimensional! -
opaque design on your bisque piece. Add clear glaze and fire.
