Underglazes
Notice! These underglazes have been
discontinued by Duncan. We cannot get any more.
Red-Coats are intensely brilliant colors designed for
solid color, 3 coat coverage on BISQUE. Too thin an application can cause red
to turn white or grey during firing. For best results use
GL612 diamond clear glaze over the
Red-Coats underglazes. Keep kiln well ventilated during firing to allow for the
brightest reds.

Tips & Techniques 1. Red
Coats may be used for sponging and most decorative brushwork. 2. Red Coats
are formulated to be used with GL612 Diamond Clear glaze. Red Coats do not work
successfully with IN1001 Clear Glaze. 3. Greenware pieces partially
decorated with Cover-Coats and bisque fired to shelf cone 04 can be accented
with Red Coat colors. 4. Keep brushes and hands clean and free from oil and
salt when working with Red-Coats. 5. Keep kiln well ventilated during
firing to allow for the brightest reds. 6. Thin application can cause red
to turn white or grey during firing.
