Small Orton Cones

These small cones or bars are usually used in a kiln sitter. When the cone or bar bends at the correct time and temperature the kiln is turned off.
These cones come 50 to a box.

Orton Standing Witness Cones

Witness cones are used to help you make sure your kiln has fired properly. When firing to cone 04 (greenware) witness cones 03 and 05 should also be used. Most people put the three cones in a line so they can visually judge if the firing is right. After firing the 03 cone should be bent far over and perhaps even touching the kiln shelf, the 05 cone should hardly have bent at all and the 04 cone should be curved perfectly downward, but not slumped. Do not place witness cones too close to elements or vents as this can affect their bending. Do not reuse witness cones.
